Brisbane Psychologist

Madeline believes psychology services should be accessible to everyone and is committed to making this possible in the following ways:

  • Keeping fees below the recommended industry rates.

  • Accepting various payment options (cash, Eftpos, credit card, direct deposit).

  • Providing on-the-spot Medicare rebates (i.e. straight back into your bank account within minutes!).

Medicare Rebates

Medicare rebates are available for psychological treatment under the Australian Government’s Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative. If eligible, your GP or Psychiatrist will need to complete a Mental Health Care Plan before referring you. With this plan, you can receive up to 10 individual medicare rebatable sessions in a calendar year. The rebate you receive back from medicare for an individual 50min session with a Psychologist is $92.90.

Do I need a referral or can I self-refer?

No you do not require a referral to access psychological services and can attend as a private client.

Private Health Insurance

If your insurer covers you under ‘extras cover’, you may be entitled to a rebate. Please speak with your private health insurer directly to see if you are eligible for a rebate from them as each company vary with the entitlements for Psychology provided. Please note, private health insurance rebates cannot be claimed simultaneously with Medicare rebates for psychology services.

What do the fees pay for?

In addition to your session time, Madeline performs out-of-session duties, such as session preparation, record keeping, writing letters to GPs and other treatment providers, scoring assessments, case-management and crisis-care, correspondence with clients and stakeholders, and administrative and other professional duties. The service fee provides for her time on these additional duties to ensure you receive a professional and ethical service in accordance with best practice standards.

What is the Cancellation Policy?

Madeline requires 48 hours notice to reschedule or cancel a session.  This policy is in place to allow Madeline to offer the allocated time to another client who is on the waiting list for an appointment. A cancellation fee of $100 will be applied for less than 48 hours notice of a session. If you cancel/reschedule on the same day as your appointment, or if you don't attend your appointment and don't provide any notice you will be charged the full fee for the session. Cancellation fees need to be paid for promptly and future sessions cannot be booked in or honored if any fees are outstanding. Cancellation fees also attract GST.

Please Note: Madeline understands that sometimes you may be unable to keep an appointment because of sudden illness or an unexpected personal emergency. If this happens to you, please contact Madeline as soon as possible to explain the situation.
